The Mississippi Department of Corrections has lifted their lockdown at two locations. Movement is no longer restricted at Marshall County Correctional Facility and Unit 30 at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.
A series of lockdowns began in mid-April at all of the prisons in the MDOC system and now only the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility and Unit 29 at Parchman remain on lockdown.
“The Mississippi Department of Corrections has zero tolerance for misconduct or illicit behavior or the introduction of contraband,” said a statement from MDOC. “Therefore, proactive measures are necessary for the security of staff and inmate.”
Commissary, visitation, outside recreation, and telephone usage have resumed at the Marshall County facility and Unit 30 at Parchman.
