The Mississippi Department of Corrections announced that they have the escaped state inmate, Eugene Robinson, back in their custody.

Officials say that Robinson was captured after attempting to carjack an individual in Webster County. Robinson was shot by the individual and was taken to the Oktibbeha County hospital for a minor injury and was treated and released. He was then transported to Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.

Robinson escaped from the George County Regional Correctional Facility in Lucedale on Saturday after tying up an officer and stealing the officer’s champagne 2000 GMC Sonoma truck.

He will likely have charges added to his sentence. He was initially serving a total of 30 years for armed robbery in Choctaw County and burglary in Oktibbeha County and had been in prison since 2003.
