Jackson– Mitch Tyner and his wife are on the list of crossover votes and Steve Fielder now says he wasn’t paid to lie about the Cochran campaign.
On August 4th, Chris McDaniel stood alongside Mitch Tyner outside Tyner’s law office in Jackson for the press conference that announced McDaniel’s challenge to the run-off results. Together they presented a large binder of what they say proves that McDaniel should have the nomination. Nearly two weeks later, The Clarion-Ledger reports that Tyner and his wife are on the list of illegal crossover votes. A McDaniel volunteer had the two marked in an affidavit from voting irregularities in Madison County.
Another turn of events in the post-election madness, Steve Fielder, the self-proclaimed pastor from Meridian, has another version of the vote-buying story. Originally, Fielder says he was paid by Cochran’s campaign to purchase votes. Later he changed the story to say that he was paid by Noel Fritsch, McDaniel’s Communications Director, to give an interview describing a hypothetical vote-buying scheme and that the vote-buying, or the paid lie, never happened. Fielder blames Attorney General Jim Hood for the confusion,saying Hood got the facts wrong.
McDaniel is expected to file a challenge with the courts Wednesday. The deadline to do so is Thursday.
