Ole Miss guard Matthew Murrell is withdrawing from the upcoming NBA Draft and eyeing one last dance in Oxford.
The senior out of Memphis, Tenn. initially tossed his hat in the ring at an opportunity to play basketball at the next level but has since had a change of heart. Murrell, a four-year starter for the Rebels, finished the 2023-24 campaign as one of the conference’s most consistent scorers, putting up 16.2 points per game and earning a second-team All-SEC honor.

He originally joined the team in 2019 under the guidance of former head coach Kermit Davis. Murrell remained with the Ole Miss program following Davis’ resignation and the hiring of Chris Beard.
Last season, the Rebels finished with a 20-12 record and were just shy of earning a bid into the NCAA Tournament. Murrell’s return paired with transfer portal additions including Sean Pedulla (Virginia Tech), Malik Dia (Belmont), Dre Davis (Seton Hall), and Mikeal Brown-Jones (UNC-Greensboro) lead college basketball experts to believe that Ole Miss could make a run in the Big Dance next year.
