A mass adoption ceremony was held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at the Hinds County Courthouse as dozens of children previously in state custody and care will be united with their new “forever families.”
The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services staff, including adoption specialists and foster care workers, were on hand to celebrate the children being placed into permanent, caring families. The adoptions involved children either born in Hinds County or have adoptive parents living in Hinds County. Judge William Singletary presided over the day.
“Our goal at MDCPS is to ensure that all children experience a safe and permanent relationship with parents who care for them and protect them. Then this is not possible within the child’s birth family, we work diligently to connect a child with an adoptive parent,” said Kristi Plotner, MDCPS deputy commissioner for administration. “We are so thrilled and pleased to see these wonderful children united with their new forever families. Today is truly a day for celebration.”
MDCPS works to promote child and family well-being and permanent family connections.
