Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is expected to join more than 1,000 protesters this Saturday in the March on Mississippi.
The event will take place at the Nissan plant in Canton and is part of a petition by plant workers to unionize. The Canton workers argue that the Japanese automaker mistreats is predominantly black workforce. About 80 percent of the plant’s 5,000 workers are African-American.
Currently, 42 out of 45 Nissan plants around the world have union representation.
Joining Sanders will be Hollywood actor Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon), Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), NAACP President Cornell William Brooks and Sierra Club President Aaron Mair.
The event will run from 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. News Mississippi will be covering the event live. Stream it here: https://www.facebook.com/newsms.fm
