GRENADA, Miss.–About 100 new jobs will be offered by Ice Industries, as they build brand new buildings in Grenada to expand their presence in Mississippi. The company, which supplies parts to the appliance, automotive, furniture, heavy truck and alternative energy markets, is expanding for its sixth time since coming to the Magnolia State.
The company already employs about 300 people in Grenada and the new expansion is about a $15 million investment.
Ice will construct its second manufacturing facility in Grenada in the Business and Technology Park North.
The 80,000-square-foot facility will provide the company with the capacity to add unique stamping capabilities currently in short supply in the Southeast U.S. for the automotive sector. Additionally, the new facility will bring the company’s footprint in Grenada to 420,000 square feet, making Ice Industries Grenada the largest manufacturing center in the company’s system.
“Ice Industries’ latest expansion is a strong testament to the fact that Mississippi is a place where companies can grow and enjoy long-term success. The expansion also speaks volumes about the productive workforce found in Grenada County and throughout Mississippi,” said Gov. Bryant. “I thank the company for being such a great business partner to the state and for once again creating so many new job opportunities for the area’s workers. I wish the Ice Industries team many more years of success in Grenada.”
“We look forward to the opportunities this expansion provides our company to increase our capabilities and add value for our global customer base,” said Ice Industries Chairman and CEO Howard Ice. “This investment reflects Ice Industries’ continuing commitment to world-class manufacturing in Grenada, Mississippi.”
Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the project for the relocation and installation of equipment, public infrastructure needs and the construction of a rail spur. Grenada County and Tennessee Valley Authority provided assistance for industrial park and site preparation.
“We salute the leadership and hard work of the Grenada Economic Development District, Grenada County Board of Supervisors and the Tennessee Valley Authority who work together with the MDA team to provide economic opportunities for the people of Grenada County,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “We are also proud to once again partner with Ice Industries as the company grows in Grenada and creates great new career opportunities for Mississippians.”
