A Jackson man accused of posing as a student in an attempt to sneak into Northwest Rankin High School on Thursday has been charged with child exploitation.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 24-year-old Lamarcus McDougle successfully hopped on a school bus en route to Northwest Rankin High School on Thursday.
McDougle, who was unarmed, allegedly claimed to be a newcomer to the school. He was promptly stopped and questioned by NWRHS administrators as soon as he entered the facility. After failing to show a valid school ID as well as an inability to give a valid reason for his presence on campus, McDougle was detained by the school’s resource officer.
Once McDougle’s identity was determined, he was taken into custody by deputies. According to Sheriff Bryan Bailey, the suspect was attempting to solicit students at the facility.
The Rankin County District Attorney’s Office is now involved in investigating the incident.
