A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Ocean Springs on Tuesday night.
Local police said around 9:50 p.m., officers responded to the railroad tracks near the downtown area along Bienville Boulevard. That’s when they found the victim deceased.
While no name is being released until the next of kin is notified, police did note that the victim was a white male. Witnesses on the scene said the victim was lying on the tracks and did not respond when the train sounded its warning horn, per WLOX.
The situation caused the railroad tracks to be closed for over an hour. The Ocean Springs Police Department and CSX Transportation are investigating the incident.
