A man is hospitalized and will soon be jailed after allegedly attempting to carjack a woman in the parking lot of the Flowood Applebee’s.
On Wednesday just after 11 a.m., police responded to a local convenience store on Lakeland Drive. Upon arrival at the scene, 28-year-old Elias Ovilio Chox-Choy is said to have run to the Applebee’s parking lot where he tried to break into the vehicle of an unidentified woman who was exiting the lot.
In the process, the suspect grappled onto the driver’s side of the woman’s car, but was flung onto the road. Chox-Choy was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
He will be placed into the custody of Flowood police once released from the hospital.
