On Saturday the Reservoir police responded to a Ross Barnett Reservoir boat launch off Highway 43 to a report of an unconscious man in a submerged vehicle.
Conservation officers from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks were first on the scene and were able to remove the man to a local hospital but he did not survive.
Witnesses stated the man was backing his trailer in the water to load his boat when he appeared to have some type of medical event. Deputies from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office along with the Lake Harbor Fire Department also responded to the call which was received at 9:28 a.m.
Identification of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his family.
