BROOKHAVEN, Miss.–Shots could be heard for hours Monday night in Brookhaven after a man locked himself in an apartment and popped off rounds at police. That man is now dead, according to the MBI.
Residents of the Brookhaven Apartments told media that man had several guns and was fighting with police because he did not want to be evicted.
At least one police officer was hurt, but his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The MBI did not ID the dead man, and did not specify how he died. The Highway Patrol SWAT Team assisted Brookhaven PD in getting the situation under control.
