On August 24, 2017, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 37-year-old Charles Jerrell Brown, of Gulfport, on the charge of False Pretense.The arrest of Brown was the result of an investigation into a complaint initiated by the victim on June 26, 2017. During the investigation, it was learned that Brown met the victim to
purchase some jewelry.
Brown gave the victim over $1,000 in the counterfeit bills in exchange for the jewelry. When confronted about the counterfeit bills Brown fled the scene. During the follow-up investigation, Brown was developed as the suspect and a warrant was obtained for the charge of False Pretense.
On August 23, 2017, at approximately 2:09 p.m. the Gulfport Police Department located Brown in the 2900 Block of West Adams Street and he was taken into custody without incident.
After booking and other procedures, Brown was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility to be held in lieu of a $20,000.00 bond set by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Melvin Ray
