The Amory Police Department has arrested a man for making a social media post threatening violence at an upcoming sporting event.
Rashad Contrell Pargo, 33, of Aberdeen, allegedly made a post on Facebook that “appeared as a threat against attendees,” according to a press release.
While law enforcement did not clarify which game Pargo is said to have made a terroristic threat against, it is believed to be Friday’s high school football game between Aberdeen High School and Amory High School.
“The safety of our citizens is NOT a subject we take lightly,” the release stated. “As such, we take ALL threats of violence aimed at our community seriously and will continue to prosecute such threats accordingly. This type of behavior will not be tolerated.”
Pargo was booked in the Monroe County Adult Detention Center. Amory Police noted that they conferred with the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office before making the arrest.
