A man on the Mississippi Gulf Coast has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman 50 times on Thursday.
The Gulfport Police Department arrested 41-year-old Nicholas Leshaun Unger after officers made contact with an unidentified female victim who was suffering from dozens of stab wounds to her face and body.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Government Street about an active assault. That’s when police found the wounded victim.
Detectives quickly discovered Unger had gone to the residence and started physically attacking the victim after a verbal argument. Unger reportedly followed the victim into the residence, grabbed a knife, and began stabbing the victim repeatedly.
The victim’s daughter is said to have attempted to intervene which allowed the victim to flee to a bedroom. Unger then forced entry into the bedroom and started stabbing her again.
The suspect was later located at the scene of the crime and taken into custody. The victim was transported to a hospital where she was listed in critical but stable condition.
Unger is charged with one count of aggravated domestic assault. He was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he was held in lieu of his $250,000 bond.
