JACKSON, Miss.- Quinton Tellis has been charged with the burning death of Jessica Chambers, a teen from Courtland, Mississippi.
But before he can be tried in Mississippi, he is facing trial for charges in Louisiana.
Tellis’ trial began Monday for charges alleging that he used a debit card that belonged to Meing-Chen Hsiao. Hsiao was a former Taiwanese exchanges student who was stabbed to death in August of 2015.
Tellis is not being charged for her murder but was named as a suspect.
District Attorney John Champion assures the public that even if Tellis is convicted of the Louisiana crime he will still be brought back to Mississippi to face the murder charges in the Chambers’ trial.
Tellis could get life in prison if convicted in Louisiana.
