BILOXI, Miss.–A “major announcement” was promised Wednesday by both Miss. Atty. Gen. Jim Hood and Gov. Phil Bryant. A statement from both offices was released to media, saying the announcement will be made in a joint press conference at 8 Thursday morning.
The press conference will be at the Dept. of Marine Resources main office at 1141 Bayview Ave. in Biloxi.
Neither Hood nor Bryant’s offices have offered any insight into what the announcement may be about. WVUE in Louisiana reported that attorney generals in four states, including Mississippi, had called press conferences for Thursday morning at 8, and that it could have to do with the BP oil spill and a major settlement that could bring billions to the states affected.
However, News Mississippi has been unable to confirm whether that was the case for Mississippi’s news conference.
