A student at Magee High School was arrested Monday evening after fleeing from police and being found with a firearm and drug paraphernalia.
Police were sent to Park Place Apartments in Magee after reports of a group of individuals armed with guns came in just before 5:30 p.m. Monday. When officers arrived, multiple male suspects were spotted standing between two buildings.
The group is said to have run into a wooded area and around buildings at the complex. Officers reportedly saw two of them carrying firearms.
One suspect was arrested after the chase, identified as a Magee High School student. When taken into custody, the teen suspect was in possession of 59 grams of marijuana and scales. The student cooperated with police, leading them to a location where a firearm had been discarded during the chase near the apartment complex’s playground.
No other suspects were arrested, though officers are working to identify others in the ongoing investigation.
