MADISON COUNTY, Miss. – The race for District 4 Madison County Supervisor seat has finally come to a close.
After what has involved several recounts and verification of votes David Bishop has officially been announced as the new supervisor. He beat out Incumbent Karl Banks, but Banks didn’t go down without a fight.
This week it was released that after a recount Bishop was ahead by two votes, however Banks and his legal team challenged the county claiming that if all of the affidavit ballots had been counted that he would have won by 10 votes. Officials are still saying that every last vote was counted in the race.
After the recount the election commission voted 3-2 to certify the results. WAPT reports that the vote is what make Bishop the winner-elect and then prompted Banks to storm out of the room
Karl Banks has held the office for 31 years. He says he isn’t done fighting and will go to court if necessary.
