MADD Calls on Legislators To Strengthen Drunk Driving Laws

JACKSON, MISS– Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will be at the Capitol this week asking lawmakers to strengthen laws and penalties against driving while intoxicated.

MADD will be at the Capitol on Tuesday and Wednesday to call on the Legislature to improve drunk driving laws in Mississippi.

MADD says a report shows ignition interlocks have prevented 2,835 drunk driving attempts in Mississippi in just one year since the state’s all-offender ignition interlock laws was enacted.

The organizations hopes that legislators advance legislation to help boost interlock installations for DUI offenders and will urge lawmakers to ensure a statewide database is created so courts can have access to drunk driving records across local jurisdictions.
