JACKSON, Miss.- Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves has been given the “Education Reformer of the Year” award by Empower Mississippi.
He received the honor Thursday at the first annual Empower Mississippi Awards Luncheon for his role in promoting reforms through legislature within the education sector this session.
Reeves pushed for changes that include appointed superintendents, charter school and Education Scholarship Account program expansions, and the Dyslexia Therapy Scholarship program renewal.
“Because of Lt. Gov. Reeves’ leadership, more parents than ever will have the opportunity to choose the best educational setting for their children, and I’m proud to recognize him with our 2016 ‘Education Reformer of the Year’ award,” President of Empower Mississippi Grant Callen said.
