A Louisiana murder suspect was captured one state over in Mississippi over the weekend.
On Saturday, officials with the Ocean Springs Police Department announced the arrest of Ian Anthony Seghers. Seghers, 34, was wanted out of Baton Rouge for second-degree murder. According to WAFB-TV, Seghers had a warrant out for his arrest in connection with the disappearance of his stepfather.

Police said that around 10 p.m. on Friday, a family member of Seghers told investigators that the accused killer had been staying with him at a residence in the 5000 block of Southland Street. Surveillance was then set up by officers outside the home, and after a search warrant was obtained, Seghers was nowhere to be found.
On Saturday around 10:45 a.m., the homeowner contacted dispatchers to inform them that Seghers had called him and said he was hiding in the woods near the home. Seghers had asked the family member to place his belongings outside for him to retrieve.
In a joint effort by law enforcement, Seghers was eventually caught hiding in a shed on the property by a crime dog with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody without incident and now awaits extradition to Louisiana.
