A Louisiana man is behind bars and facing charges for a homicide that occurred on a Greyhound bus on the Mississippi Gulf Coast over the weekend.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) reports that 26-year-old Rashad Price of Slidell, La., fatally shot 25-year-old Jay Jackson, a Georgia native, on Sunday around 11 p.m. while the bus was near mile markers 57-61 on Interstate 10 in Jackson County.

After the shooting, the bus driver drove to the nearest exit and called 911. No other passengers were injured during the incident, authorities say.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Monday, deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department observed Price running across the interstate, and he was taken into custody with no further incident. He is currently being charged with homicide.

MBI is currently investigating this incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the local District Attorney’s office.
