A man has been arrested in Lee County after officers discovered an explosive device underneath the seat of his car.
According to Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson, Michael Foster, 58, was taken into custody on Tuesday at the Texaco gas station on Barnes Crossing Road.
Foster was reportedly living in the vehicle with his mother, Dianne Cotton, 81, when police found methamphetamine and the bomb underneath Cotton’s seat.
Officers tracked down Foster’s car after receiving reports of a vulnerable adult, later finding that they were unable to contact Cotton.
The Tupelo Bomb Squad removed and disposed of the device without incident while the victim was transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center.
Foster has since been issued charges for possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor warrants, adding to his preexisting charges of armed robbery and narcotics.
