Three people are in custody for what officials are calling “the largest methamphetamine seizure to date” along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, a multi-agency investigation had been going on for months into an interstate drug trafficking operation based out of Dallas and Houston, Texas, and making trips into Mississippi and down to the Coast.
Law enforcement had enough evidence to arrest three unidentified individuals and seize approximately 121 kilograms of methamphetamine on Sunday, July 7. In a social media post, HCSO officials noted that the bust is “believed to be the largest methamphetamine seizure to date that was solely destined for the Mississippi Gulf Coast.”
Along with the HCSO, the Drug Enforcement Agency, Hattiesburg Post of Duty, DEA Gulfport Resident Office, Hattiesburg Police Department, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Waveland Police Department, and Bay St. Louis Police Department aided in the investigation and arrests.
