The Mississippi Match 5 jackpot has increased again, rising thousands of dollars past the most recent record of $700,000.

Now, the current jackpot for Thursday night’s drawing is sitting at an estimated $720,000, making history for being the largest prize in the game’s history. The drawing will be the 23rd since the last jackpot of $55,000 was won on December 10.

The previous Mississippi Match 5 record jackpot of $665,000 was hit in July 2021 and was split between two winning tickets. Strong sales are the reason for an already unprecedented jackpot being increased from the previously estimated record jackpot of $700,000.

Since its launch, Mississippi Match 5 has had five jackpots of more than $500,000. Each time there’s a jackpot winner, the game resets to a $50,000 jackpot.

“It is very easy to get caught up in the excitement of such a substantial jackpot,”  Mississippi Lottery Corporation President Jeff Hewitt said. “We love seeing players having fun; but, we also remind them to play responsibly.”

There are still three winning tickets that have yet to be claimed in Mississippi, with the most recent ticket being purchased at a Sprint Mart on West Main Street in Tupelo. The ticket, which was purchased for Monday’s Powerball drawing, won $50,000 after matching four of five white balls and the Powerball.

The two additional unclaimed tickets were purchased for a Powerball and Mega Millions drawing. One $500,000 ticket was purchased in McComb from the August 13 Powerball drawing and is set to expire on February 9. Another $4 million ticket was purchased at the Byram Chevron from the January 3 Mega Millions drawing and will expire on July 2.
