JACKSON, Miss.- La’Porsha Renae spoke with Supertalk’s Paul Gallo on her experience on American Idol.
Renae is one of two Mississippi finalists. The other is a man named, Trent Harmon. Both have made it to the final six of American Idol’s 15th and final season.
“It’s such an honor for us, we’re trying to rep Mississippi really well,” said Renae.
Renae says the journey has been tough but having someone from her home state along for the ride has brought comfort when facing this California lifestyle.
“The customs are different, the culture is different…..the main thing we miss from there [Mississippi] is the food,” Renae said laughing.
Renae auditioned for the show after already being shot down once before in New Orleans. She decided to go for it and when she found out it was the final season she said it was validation for her decision.
She continued to brag with Gallo on the “hidden talent” in Mississippi,
“I tell people all the time, you think whats coming out of my mouth is something, just come to my home and you’ll see people that blows me and Trent out of the water,” says Renae.
Renae and Harmon have taken a stand for what a great state Mississippi really is despite the recent controversial attention the state has received surrounding the flag.
Thursday March 24th they will continue singing their hearts out to millions in hopes to be crowned, the next American Idol.
