A Kentucky murder suspect has been apprehended in Mississippi after a tense standoff on Saturday.
According to authorities, U.S. marshals took Desmond Shaw, 34, into custody an hour after he barricaded himself inside a home on Wayne Drive in Coffeeville. Law enforcement surrounded the residence with Shaw eventually surrendering without incident.
Shaw is facing multiple charges after a July 22 incident in Jefferson County, Ky., where one man was killed and two women were shot during an altercation. His charges include murder, first-degree domestic assault, first-degree criminal mischief, and theft by unlawful taking involving a firearm.
While several warrants were put out for Shaw’s arrest on July 23, it was not until Saturday that authorities tracked him to Mississippi. The Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Office assisted U.S. marshals in the arrest.
