KEMPER COUNTY, Miss.–Last week’s stabbing of George Butler in Kemper County ultimately led to his death Thursday. Butler, 81, was stabbed by his 16-year-old granddaughter, Bria Grandberry, deputies say.
Butler spent a week in the hospital and the family thought he was getting better earlier in the week.
Grandberry was charged with aggravated assault after the stabbing. Butler was cut in his side and his shoulder. Sheriff James Moore said it happened after a fight between the two.
Kemper deputies have not said yet if the charge against Grandberry was or will be upgraded. Moore told WTOK TV that there may have been some abuse happening in the house.
Her case will be presented to a Grand Jury.
