JACKSON, Miss. – The future of the Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (MPACT) program could be determined as early as Wednesday.
The program, which allows families to prepay their child’s college tuition, was frozen more than a year ago because of its mounting deficit. The shortage still sits at about $82 million as of June 30.
The board that oversees the program has been looking at ways to lower that deficit and reopen the program to new members. The board meets Wednesday and could make recommendations at that time.
