Keeping Your Kids Safe: Making Child Pornography Gets Mississippi Man 35 Years

PEARL, Miss.–Having hundreds of videos and pictures of children in sexual situations and even making one himself got Michael Donaldson, 35, of Pearl, 35 years in the state prison. The sentence was Monday after a week-long trial that ended Jan. 23.

Donaldson was convicted of having child pernography on his computer when agents from the attorney general’s Cyber Crime Unit searched his house. They also found that he made a video of a child in the bathroom.

“This crime is nothing short of sickening,” said Attorney Genera Jiml Hood. “We do appreciate the jury for a just verdict and Judge Chapman for the maximum time behind bars, which is exactly where this predator and others like him should be.”

The crimes will also cost Donaldson some money. He was ordered to pay $1,000 to the children’s trust fund and $1,000 to the crime victim’s compensation fund. Donaldson must also register as a sex offender upon release.

The 35 years must be served day for day. The total sentence was 45 years.
