JACKSON, MISS– Super Tuesday is one of the most pivotal moments in a presidential candidate’s campaign, and Ohio Governor John Kasich chose to spend that moment in Jackson.
“He could have been anywhere,” says U.S. Congressman Gregg Harper, “on a night when he needed to be everywhere, he chose to be here.”
Harper says Kasich is the presidential candidate Mississippi needs, emphasizing the importance of pro-life in the Magnolia state and that Kasich embodies those values.
“Planned Parenthood in Ohio is releasing ads against him,” says Harper, “in Ohio, he passed a law to redirect funding from Planned Parenthood to women’s health clinics in the state. We’ve been trying to do that in Washington for years.”
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says Kasich has been so impressive in Mississippi because he’s not like others running for president.
“He’s not taking part in this buffoonery,” says Hosemann, “he’s about the people. Half his speech was about the people.”
Kasich says that in this presidential election period, the officials aren’t the only ones with jobs to do. He urges people to remember there’s one core similarity on both sides of the aisle.
“At the core of Republicans and Democrats, we’re Americans.”
