Juneteenth events happening across Mississippi this weekend

Juneteenth events across Mississippi are kicking off in celebration of the historic freeing of the last slaves in the nation in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865.

Here’s a list of parades, parties, and special events that will be held throughout the state:

Friday, June 16

Saturday, June 17

  • Unity Walk/Run: John Henry Beck Park in Biloxi at 9:00 a.m.
  • Ocean Springs Community-Wide Celebration: Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in Ocean Springs at 9:00 a.m.
  • Juneteenth Jubilee: Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Juneteenth in the Pass: The Randolph Center in Pass Christian from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Pearl River County Juneteenth Celebration: JP Johnson Park in Picayune from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Juneteenth Celebration: Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Waveland at 12:00 p.m.
  • Freedom Celebration Festival 2023: Isiah Fredricks Community Center in Gulfport from 12:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
  • 3rd Annual Gulfport City-Wide Juneteenth Freedom Festival: Isiah Fredricks Community Center & Ball Fields in Gulfport at 12:19 p.m.
  • 10-hour Dance Marathon: 100 Men Hall in Bay St. Louis at 1:00 p.m.
  • Juneteenth Celebration: Biloxi Town Green from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Oxford Juneteenth Festival: Oxford Intermediate School from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • 3rd Annual Winston County Juneteenth Festival: 99 N Columbus Ave from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Juneteenth on Farish Street: Farish Street Historic District North Farish Street in Jackson from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Sunday, June 18

  • Family Day Picnic: John Henry Beck Park in Biloxi from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Tomar & the FCs FREE Show: The Tin Shed at 100 Men Hall in Bay St. Louis from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Monday, June 19

  • Juneteenth Celebration: Ridgeland Public Library in Jackson from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday, June 20:
  • Juneteenth Jubilee Observance: Smith Robertson Museum in Jackson from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
