It did not take long for former Ole Miss and current Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins to take a shot at his former college.
Just three days after the Buckeyes’ 52-6 win over Akron, when asked about the atmosphere at Ohio Stadium, Judkins expressed elatement with the reported 102,011 fans in attendance while also making a dig at the Rebels’ stadium capacity.
“[It was] definitely a one-of-a-kind experience. It was super exciting — definitely more fans than I expected, so it was super fun,” Judkins told reporters. “Over 100,000, being at Ole Miss, I only got to see that at away games.”
Putting possible motives for the remarks aside, it is true that the All-American running back only experienced crowds of such magnitude when Ole Miss, whose stadium holds just north of 64,000, hit the road. However, that occurrence was quite infrequent.
During Judkins’ time at Ole Miss, he played three road games in stadiums holding more than 100,000 fans:
- LSU on Oct. 22, 2022 — Officials reported that 100,821 fans were in attendance.
- Texas A&M on Oct. 29, 2022 — Officials reported that 101,084 fans were in attendance.
- Alabama on Sept. 23, 2023 — Officials reported that 100,077 fans were in attendance.
Only eight schools boast a stadium capacity greater than 100,000. Unmentioned programs with six-figure capacity include Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, and Texas.
The crowd-size comment was just the latest occurrence in the aftermath of a seemingly nasty breakup between Judkins and the Ole Miss football program. Rumors surrounding tensions between the two parties over constant squabbles for more NIL money by the running back came to a head when Judkins ultimately hit the transfer portal and found a new home in Columbus.
In his first game as a Buckeye, Judkins logged 55 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
