JACKSON, Miss.–The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff only managed to put three points on the board in Saturday’s homecoming for Jackson State. The Tigers have only racked up two wins so far this year, but with Saturday’s 37 to 3 victory, JSU is hoping for a late-season turnaround under the leadership of offensive coordinator-turned acting coach- Derrick McCall.
UAPB’s field goal came in the third quarter.
With Ole Miss and State both earning victories, they are now both in the Ap Top 25.
Beating Texas A&M in Saturday’s night game, 23 to 3, brought Ole Miss up from No. 24 to 19 in the poll. Their record now sits at 6-2 on the season. Their Halloween game takes the Rebs to Auburn for an 11 o’clock kick-off.
After State’s 42 to 16 win over the Kentucky Wildcats, they come into the AP Poll at No. 25. The Bulldogs get a weekend off, then it’s to Missouri for an 8 p.m. kick-off Nov. 5.
The Delta State Statesmen have now racked up three losses on the season (5-3), with a tight game and a squeeze-by, by the University of West Alabama Saturday, 41 to 38. The Fighting Okra heads to Florence next week for a 1:30 game against the University of North Alabama.
Mississippi Valley traveled to Grambling Saturday with the hope of a win, but came back after putting two touchdowns on the board for a 49 to 14 loss. Next Saturday they’ll host the JSU Tigers in Itta Bena.
