A major drug bust in Jackson led to the arrest of six people on Tuesday night.
First reported by WLBT, multiple people exited a vehicle and fled on foot while police officers were conducting a traffic stop at McDowell and Pinebrook Road.
Police took one person into custody at the scene. Officers surrounded the area of the stop and were able to arrest five other individuals.
Authorities seized 600 grams of “high-grade” marijuana, assault-style pistols that shoot rifle rounds, and handguns.
The Jackson Police Department plans to increase its presence in capital city neighborhoods as it works to clean up crime.
