The Jackson Police Department is continuing to investigate last week’s shooting that left two children injured.
After a gunman shot into a vehicle on State Street near UMMC, a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old were taken to the hospital after their mother carried them into a parking garage on the campus of the medical center. As the children were being tended to, police began to search for a suspect and stated that they were looking for a dark colored sedan.
Police have now located the black Nissan Sentra that the suspect was driving in South Jackson. A news release from the JPD also noted that they detained a person of interest for questioning after they found the car, and identified a second person of interest, but no arrests in the case have been made.
Both children were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and remain hospitalized in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
