Amid rumors that Mississippi State freshman phenom Josh Hubbard was going to hit the transfer portal for bigger and better NIL opportunities, the star point guard has confirmed that he will be staying in Starkville for at least another season.
In a social media post on Monday afternoon, Hubbard shut down all rumors.
let’s run it back Starkvegas, year 2 loading…🐶

Hubbard averaged 17.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game during his record-breaking freshman campaign. Along the way, he broke Mississippi State’s single-season record for three-pointers (108) and led SEC freshmen in scoring. He also became the first Bulldog to win five SEC Freshmen of the Week awards and was named this year’s winner of the Howell Trophy, given annually to the top men’s basketball player in Mississippi.
The Madison-Ridgeland Academy product was vital to Mississippi State returning to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row. Even though the team lost to Tom Izzo and Michigan State in round one, year two with Hubbard leading the offense should be just as, if not more, exciting.
