This Friday marks the start of the 64th annual Jimmie Rodgers Music Festival in Meridian, Mississippi. The two day event celebrates the life and musical contributions of the Mississippi native.
Known as “The Father of Country Music,” Jimmy Rodgers was known for his rhythmic yodeling and is considered one of the first country music superstars.
The festival will take place on the Meridian City Hall lawn with gates opening Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

“Bring your lawn chairs, bring your blankets. We have seven food vendors providing a variety of food. It’s going to be a wonderful celebration,” said Betty Lou Jones, President and organizer of the Jimmy Rodgers Festival . “It’s a great festival atmosphere, it’s very safe, it’s family oriented.”
The Price for a ticket Friday night is $10 and $35 Saturday. A two day pass will cost you $42.
