It’s official. Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has announced that he will run it back with head coach Lane Kiffin and the Rebels for one more season.
After a stellar performance in Saturday’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl victory over Penn State in which Dart went 25 of 40 for 379 yards and three touchdowns, the junior signal caller made it known that he is looking to take care of unfinished business in the Rebels’ continued pursuit of the program’s first College Football Playoff appearance.
Overall in 2023, Dart threw for 3,364 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He was ranked by the NCAA as the No. 12 most efficient quarterback in the nation.

Other notable offensive players joining the Utah native in suiting up in Ole Miss garb for another year are Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, and Caden Prieskorn. Though an official announcement has not yet been made, sources tell SuperTalk Mississippi News that All-American running back Quinshon Judkins will also be “staying in the Sip’.”
Dart will have even more weapons going into the 2024 campaign with the addition of South Carolina transfer Juice Wells and Holmes Community College transfer Deion Smith to boost one of the most dynamic offenses in the sport.
Ole Miss last earned a national championship title in 1962. When taking the job in 2019, Kiffin told a crowd in the Pavilion that he did not come to Oxford to be good but to be great. After amassing the program’s first 11-win season in history and retaining key pieces from the existing roster while adding a star-studded group of defensive talent through the transfer portal, Kiffin and company are working to continue elevating the ceiling with a championship mentality being the standard.
“I think it’s really a cool time right now at Ole Miss. To win the most games in the history of the school and to have so many pieces already announcing that they’re coming back, which I made sure a couple of them are still doing that after their performances today,” Kiffin said following the Peach Bowl. “I said that when I got hired, we didn’t come here to be good and win some decent bowl games and some matches. We came here to be great, win New Year’s Six bowls like this, be a top ten program.”
With the CFP expanding to 12 teams next season, Ole Miss is looking to carry the momentum of winning a New Year’s Six bowl into 2024 with hopes of competing against premier programs on the nation’s biggest stage.
