Jason Jones was relieved of his duties as defensive backs coach on Monday, a source confirmed to SuperTalk.
Chase Parham of RebelGrove.com first reported the news.
Jones spent five seasons in Oxford, working under former defensive coordinators Dave Wommack and Wesley McGriff during that time. McGriff was fired last November as the first of a number of staff changes Matt Luke made after a disappointing 2018 campaign in which the Rebels ranked near the bottom of the FBS in most major defensive statistical categories.
Jones began as the defensive backs coach and later worked with the safeties as well. Jones spent five seasons on Mike Gundy’s staff at Oklahoma State before arriving in Oxford.
