Jackson State football staffers continue to leave for FBS positions with offensive coordinator Maurice Harris being the latest to announce his departure.
On Saturday, Harris changed his bio on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to reflect that he had accepted the position of director of football and recruiting relations at Auburn. The move reconnects Harris and Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze, who coached together at Arkansas State, Ole Miss, and Liberty.
During his lone season in Jackson, Harris led an offense that averaged 389.4 yards and 27.3 points per game. The Tigers’ offense guided by Harris led the SWAC in total offense and was second in passing and third in rushing.
Harris is the latest Jackson State assistant coach to jump ship for an FBS job after defensive coordinator Jonathan Bradley and offensive line coach Jason Onyebuagu both left for jobs at South Alabama.
