The leader of the Jackson Police Department’s Crisis Intervention Team was severely injured on Friday morning.
Officers were responding to a call about a mental health subject in the parking lot of Merit Health Central that refused to leave. When the officer arrived, the subject hit him with a vehicle.
Other officers fired shots at the suspect, who was not struck. The suspect’s vehicle was found later on Langley Street at Robinson Road. 32-year-old Nicholas Glover, who is believed to have been suffering from a mental episode, was arrested on Westover Drive.
As is standard procedure in any officer-involved shooting, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is now investigating.
