Jackson police investigating after man found dead at tennis complex

Jackson police are working to find a suspect responsible for shooting and killing a man at Parham Bridges Park.

Authorities began investigating the homicide at the park and tennis complex off Old Canton Road and near Jackson Academy after detectives were informed of the man’s death. According to WLBT, a person who had gone to the park to play tennis discovered the victim, identified as Melvin McNair, Jr., lying in a pool of blood.

Detectives learned that the victim’s vehicle, a maroon 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck with a black stripe on the hood, is missing and was possibly taken during the incident. The tag number of the vehicle is HN5 5508.

McNair’s father, Melvin McNair, Sr., was killed by his cousin in Jackson last year after the two had been involved in an altercation.
