A Jackson man will spend 22 years in federal prison for a pair of armed robberies at metro area convenience stores.

According to court documents and public court proceedings, Kenneth Edwards Lewis, Jr., 35, used a gun to rob two convenience stores in Clinton and Ridgeland during early 2018. Law enforcement located Lewis, Jr. and his co-defendant in the case, Tramaine Jadell Pettaway, and arrested them after a brief chase following the Ridgeland robbery. The duo has been in custody since their 2018 arrests.

The Ridgeland Police Department, the Clinton Police Department, and the FBI investigated the case. Deputy Criminal Chief Lynn Murray and Assistant United States Attorney Charles Kirkham prosecuted the case. The case was a part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods Program, the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s violent crime reduction efforts.

Pettaway also pled guilty in the case and awaits his sentencing.
