A man passed away Monday morning after he was buried by a flow of asphalt in Jackson.
City officials say an apparent malfunction with a dump truck the man was driving led to the death.
41-year-old Darrell Sheriff was reportedly attempting to repair a hydraulic line under the truck when the tailgate opened and released a load of asphalt on top of him. Sheriff was declared dead at the scene.
Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade says an investigation will be conducted, but initial evidence points to an accidental death.
