An arrest has been made following a fatal shooting near a Jackson elementary school.
Jackson Police report that investigators began looking into a homicide that occurred on Clinton Avenue near Pecan Park Elementary School on Friday. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. No arrests were made at the time.
One week later, JPD issued an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Marcus Haynes. He was considered to be armed and dangerous. The following day, Haynes was apprehended by JPD’s ACTION team and charged with murder.
The victim’s identity has not been released at this time, neither has a motive for the shooting.
