After the most recent felony conviction in a long list for a Jackson man, the Armed Career Criminal Act was triggered which resulted in him being sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Bernard Caston, 54, was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Jackson as an armed career criminal for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Court documents say Caston and Fredrick Harper, another Jacksonian, stole four firearms from another individual in 2018. The pair were caught on the way to sell the stolen guns by a JPD officer shortly after.
Caston had numerous prior convictions for violent crimes, including a federal armed bank robbery conviction. The case was investigated by the ATF and the Jackson Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Amber Jones and Dave Fulcher prosecuted the case.
