Madison County School District officials say the incident took place on Friday. Students who were allegedly aware of the firearm reported to educators. The teachers then contacted law enforcement.
The incident happened on Friday, April 26. According to Gene Graham, director of communications for the school district, other students reported their concerns to teachers who quickly intervened.
Authorities located the unidentified student and the firearm. The student and the weapon were removed from campus without incident. RHS parents and guardians were notified about the incident by a message from the school’s principal
“We are so proud of the students who reported concerns to teachers who quickly intervened. The safety of our students and faculty is our highest priority,” a release from the MCSD reads. “We encourage parents to remind their children that bringing weapons of any kind to school is not tolerated and will result in immediate expulsion.”
