An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting in Mississippi’s capital city left one injured.
According to officials, officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a call Sunday around 6 a.m. near Jamestown Way. Upon arrival, an officer was walking toward the scene when the suspect tried to hit the officer with his vehicle.
The officer responded by firing his weapon, striking the suspect. The suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated. The officer involved did not suffer any physical injuries.
As of Sunday afternoon, no identities had been released. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case.
